Based on John King’s cult best-seller, this timely film enters the dark heart of football violence, as mastered by the fat-bellied, tattooed, booze-guzzling English ‘fans’ currently befouling Portugal while their over-praised team struggles through the European Champions.

The film does have a sharp edge but nowhere does it try to explain how thousands of English fans turn so readily into unpleasant mad yobs when confronted by far more sophisticated and nicer foreigners.

Sometimes one despairs of our neighbours!
