Ireland is to become home to a second international comedy festival this autumn, it was announced today.
International stars of the comedy circuit are expected to jet into Dublin for the new Bulmers International Comedy Festival which will take place in September.
The fun-loving event is to follow in the footsteps of the internationally renowned Kilkenny’s Murphy’s Cat Laughs Festival which has taken Ireland by storm.
Comedians including Ed Byrne, Lenny Henry, Bill Bailey, Dom Irrera, Emo Phillips, Jasper Carrott and Jerry Sadowitz will take part in the two-week Dublin event.
Some of the the world-class comedians including Irishman Ed Byrne and Emo Phillips, who made his Irish debut back in 1995, are already firm favourites with the 30,000 people who travel to Kilkenny each year.
The comedians – both international and Irish – will take to the stage in 16 different venues across Dublin from September 12 to 26.
The festival will also include a pub trail with different acts all across Dublin city throughout the festival.
Some long-running stand-up comedians whose performance interacts with the audience will also take part including Joey and Maria’s Comedy Wedding.
Their 11-year strong interactive dinner show follows the bride and groom plus their entourage of relatives as they treat the audience as their guests in a wedding party.
