Diana promises to be on Fantasia's heels

The road to runner-up status wasn't smooth for American Idol's Diana DeGarmo.

She sometimes sported some truly unflattering outfits. During the latin-themed week, for instance, Simon Cowell told her: "I give the performance a seven and the dress a zero." At least this plucky 16-year-old has a healthy sense of humour.

Catty criticisms of her weight and clothes would be crushing at her age but the Georgia girl merely says "bashing my clothes doesn't bother me…as long as it's not about my voice".

She may be number two but Diana DeGarmo aims to grab success, promising this year's winner: "Fantasia, you better watch out, sister, 'cause I'm comin!'"
