Beckham-linked model worked for escort agency

A model who claims she had an affair with David Beckham worked for an Australian escort agency at about the same time she met him.

Boardroom Escorts in Sydney confirmed that Malaysian-born Sarah Marbeck worked for the agency in 2001, the year she claimed she had a relationship with the soccer star, but declined to give further details.

Marbeck’s lawyer Michael Brereton declined to comment – “I have heard of it but I haven’t seen it,” he said.

The 29-year-old model is reported to be in hiding in a five star resort near Cairns in far north Australia, leaving Brereton to deal with the media.

He said his client was not a malicious marriage wrecker.

Marbeck claimed at the weekend that she had a relationship and exchanged steamy phone text messages with Beckham for two years after the pair met in Singapore in 2001.

Melbourne’s Herald-Sun newspaper has carried stories citing unnamed friends of Marbeck saying she was obsessed with England’s biggest sporting star and that they doubted the extent of the relationship. Others say her revelations were motivated by money.

“I haven’t seen that in Sarah at all,” Brereton told the Australian radio today. “She’s obviously emotional and I think that her emotions are clear … it’s quite clear it wasn’t a malicious or angry reaction.”

Brereton released a statement on Marbeck’s behalf on Tuesday, in which the model said she was shocked at the intense media and public interest in her claims.

Marbeck wasn’t in it for the money, Brereton said today.

“I think Sarah would say … that she does see this as a way of moving on from the past, a past that was life-changing for her and an event that was life-changing for her,” he said.

“Sarah needed to move forward with her life and this is the way for her to move forward in the emotional sense. That’s her explanation and that’s how she feels about it and I believe her when she says it.”

Marbeck said she went public because she had put her life on hold for two years waiting for Beckham because he told her he loved her.

“I’m not a celebrity seeker, and I’m not interested in extra fame,” she said.

The Beckhams have been headline news since reports detailing the Real Madrid midfielder’s alleged three-month affair with his personal assistant Rebecca Loos emerged .
