Zeta Jones' parents take house off market
The parents of Hollywood superstar Catherine Zeta Jones have cancelled plans to sell the family home in Swansea, it emerged today.
Dai and Pat Jones put the family home on the market for £425,000 (€637,600) and were thought to be planning to move to a luxury property owned by their daughter in Swansea Bay.
Zeta Jones and husband Michael Douglas put the quaint village of Mumbles on the map when they opted to build the £1.1m (€1.7m) home on the exclusive Silverhurst estate last year.
Chris McVeigh, managing director of Peter Alan estate agents confirmed that the four-bedroom family home in the nearby Mayals area had been taken off the market.
He said: “It was recently taken off the market. The family have their own reasons for doing that.”
The house in Mayals is described by estate agent Peter Alan as a “tastefully presented detached corner property, situated in a sought after location”.
The five-bedroom Silverhurst property is one of three luxury developments on the exclusive gated estate overlooking the bay at Limesdale.
The Jones family were embroiled in a planning dispute with would-be neighbour Steve Gwynn who runs a business from his property on the luxury estate.
In mid-March, councillors in Swansea voted to allow entrepreneur Mr Gwynn to continue using a barn on the site as the headquarters for his IT company.
Mr Gwynn, who was not available for comment, has previous called the council’s decision “a vote for common sense”.
