Bennifer 'still good friends'
Despite their very public break-up Ben Affleck said today that he and Jennifer Lopez remain good friends.
He said he was âon really good terms with Jenâ and still had âpositiveâ memories of his time with the actress and singer.
âWe still talk,â he said, adding that she recently sent him a note before he flew to New York to promote Jersey Girl, their last film together.
She wrote: âI do not envy you having to do this junket.â
He said he watched the movie fondly: âItâs actually fun to look at. Iâm really proud of this movie,â he said.
He told People magazineâs March 22 edition: âIâm glad that we were able to do this so the last memory of us working together is something thatâs really positive.â
Affleck and J-Lo, together dubbed âBenniferâ, were due to marry last September but the nuptials were called off at the last minute.
They said at the time that media pressure would have ruined their big day.
The ceremony was expected to have been held at a private estate in Montecito, near Santa Barbara, California.
Guests expected included Hollywood stars Matt Damon, Bruce Willis, Matthew Perry and Alec Baldwin.
The postponement sparked months of rampant speculation about whether the couple would wed or split.
Celebrity-watchers suggested that Affleck, 31, had cold feet, and called off the wedding.
Others claimed his alleged bad boy behaviour at a Vancouver strip club had soured the relationship.
In January the pair confirmed their split and went their separate ways.
Jersey Girl, directed by Kevin Smith, opens in the US on March 26. J-Lo decided not to go to the premiere of the film in New York this week.
In a separate interview, Affleck told NBC he hoped his relationship with Lopez would not overshadow the launch of the movie.
He also disclosed that a wedding scene between the pair had been cut from the film.
âI would hate to have that sort of, like, tabloid aspect of it or the relationship or anything overshadow, you know, what I think is really Kevinâs best movie. And probably mine, too,â he said.
The decision to axe the wedding scene came after the pair decided to call off their real-life nuptials in January.
