More news about the proposed filming of the C.S. Lewis classic, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe … Shrek director Andrew Adamson has started work on the project.

New Zealander Adamson will direct the $110m (€86m) film, expected to be the first of five based on Ulsterman Lewis's seven Chronicles of Narnia books, in New Zealand, now the hot location after hosting the three Lord of the Rings epics.

The Lion was published in l950 and is the second and best-known of the Lewis collection.

Shooting is planned for mid-2004.
