Osbourne recovering after operation

Legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne was recovering in hospital today after undergoing a major operation to treat serious injuries sustained in a quad bike accident.

The 55-year-old singer and reality TV star broke his collarbone, six ribs and a vertebra in the accident yesterday at his estate near Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire.

He was given treatment at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

It is not clear how the accident happened. Osbourne’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Ozzy underwent emergency surgery to lift the collarbone which was resting on a major artery interrupting blood flow to his arm.

Former Black Sabbath star Osbourne has enjoyed a renaissance through the reality TV show featuring his family.

However, he was devastated when his wife Sharon was diagnosed as having colon cancer last year.

The rocker, who has battled drink and drugs, also had health problems of his own and underwent treatment for a tremor earlier this year.
