S.W.A.T.

Director: Clark Johnson

Cast: Colin Farrell, Samuel L. Jackson, Michelle Rodriguez, James Todd Smith, Josh Charles

Cert: 15.

Our foul-mouthed Irish hero - Farrell, in case you've just arrived from Mars - comes a cropper in this awful big-screen revival of a short-lived TV series about the LAPD's tough special unit of macho men.

It is a waste of his time and the talent he has previously shown in an astonishing range of films, released at the rate, it seems, of one every other day.

The plot - pause for hollow laughter - has the lads escorting a sneering French baddie, who has offered the city's riff-raff a lot of folding stuff if they can get him free. The film thereafter gives all concerned the chance to do a lot of shooting, shouting, bonding male-wise and blowing things up. Making even a half-decent film appears not to have been on the list of Things to Do.

It is a slipshod film crammed with awful clichés and it should be avoided at all costs.

Star Rating: 0/5
