New baby for Dire Straits frontman

Musician Mark Knopfler is celebrating the birth of a baby daughter, it was announced today.

Katya Ruby Rose was born on Tuesday weighing 9lbs 9oz, Knopfler’s spokeswoman said.

She is the second child for the star and his third wife, Kitty Aldridge. They already have a five-year-old daughter, Isabella.

“Katya and Kitty are doing fine and everyone is delighted with the new addition to the Knopfler household,” the spokeswoman said.

Knopfler, 54, also has 16-year-old twin sons, Benjamin and Joseph, from a previous marriage.

The former Dire Straits frontman, who was born in Glasgow and raised in Newcastle, is now based in London.
