Charlotte Rampling, Ludivine Seigner, Charles Dance
From France comes this compellingly enjoyable tale in which the excellent Rampling plays a crime novelist who is lent the Provence holiday home of her publisher (Dance). Life there is easy and eventually disrupted by the arrival of the publisher's teenage daughter (Seigner).
It is a clever, observant film of human nature and the playing of Rampling and Seigner makes for a strong team. Their generation differences lie as much at the film's core as anything else: the up-tight writer and the free-spirit daughter in a neat dance.
