The man who sued God: passable Aussie comedy

If, argues Connolly's fisherman character in this passable Aussie comedy, an accident is deemed 'An Act of God' - his boat is struck by lightning and the insurance company refuses to pay up –
then why not sue the Almighty?
Connolly is an acquired taste, but here he is quite good as the rough, boozy fisherman with an odd take on litigation. For those of you involved in an accident, and with devious insurance companies who come up with arguments against paying, this is an off-beat suggestion.
The insurance companies don't, with justification, come out of it well. They are a bunch of twisting, confusing chancers whose function appears to be to keep the rest of us from their money (well, it's actually our money). Neither do the churches emerge with credit as they try to run from the implications of their leader being taken to court.
It's a curious little film, with a cast that just about makes it interesting. But not a great deal interesting.
