Jerry interviews Mick for new BBC3 show
Model Jerry Hall interviews her ex-husband Mick Jagger for a new BBC show as she turns TV presenter.
The glamorous star tackles the Rolling Stones’ frontman on his experiences of spirituality and his meetings with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Their chat is part of Hall’s series for digital channel BBC3, Jerry Hall’s Gurus, to be screened this autumn.
During their interview, noted romeo Jagger claims the Greek God which most closely represents him is Dionysus, the God of wine and fertility. He is also the patron God of the stage.
TV bosses had no idea Hall was planning to question her ex for the show when they gave it the go-ahead.
“There are lots of people she brought in when you see the episodes,” said BBC3 controller Stuart Murphy.
In the series Hall looks at the world of gurus and the celebrities who are guided by them.
Jagger met the Maharishi – who had a profound impact on The Beatles – in 1968 at a conference in Bangor north Wales.
A BBC spokesman said: “Jerry asks Mick about the impact and significance of the Maharishi at the time and asks whether he could be considered to be the first celebrity guru.”
Other new shows on the six-month old station include Little Britain, a TV version of the offbeat Radio 4 series starring Matt Lucas – best known for playing George Dawes in the comedy quiz Shooting Stars.
And in Fightbox, viewers have created their own computer game-style virtual warriors who will slug it out in an arena before a live audience.
