Berry sinks claws into new role

Now that the arm she broke while doing a stunt for the horror film Gothika has healed, Oscar winner Halle Berry is in training for her next role, as Batman’s arch enemy Catwoman.

“It’s great – lots of fight training and whip work,” says Berry, who has been a fan of the feline comic character since seeing Eartha Kitt play her in old episodes of the 1960s Batman television series.

“Catwoman’s been done by great women and I’m just hoping I can stand among them and add some of my own personality,” Berry tells Entertainment Weekly.

Part of her training involves learning Catwoman language.

“I’m trying to get my purr just right,” she says.
