Baby joy for actress Kate

Actress Kate Winslet and her director husband Sam Mendes are expecting their first child together, it was confirmed today.

Winslet – who already has a daughter Mia from her first marriage – is due to give birth in January.

A spokeswoman for the pair said today: “They are utterly delighted."

The couple married in May at a ceremony in the West Indies while they enjoyed a holiday. Just Mia and three friends witnessed the wedding.

“She was expecting when they got married but they didn’t know at the time. The pregnancy was in its very early stages,” said the spokeswoman.
