St Trinian's film to be 'modern reworking'
The new St Trinian’s film in the works at Ealing Studios will not be a remake of the 1950s comedies but more a “modern reworking” of them inspired by the original Ronald Searle cartoons, according to Daily Variety.
The script is being written by Men Behaving Badly creator Simon Nye and Rupert Everett is set to take the double role of the headmistress and her roguish brother, played by Alastair Sim in 1954’s The Belles Of St Trinians, reports the newspaper.
Another classic British comedy, Kind Hearts And Coronets, is also due for the remake treatment, reports Variety.
The film, which starred Dennis Price with Alex Guinness playing eight characters, is being updated to the present day, with wholly new characters and situations.
There is no director or cast yet but the multiple Guinness role could be a much-coveted showcase for a big comic star.
