A contestant has been booted off the US Big Brother show after throwing a violent temper tantrum which he blamed on genital warts.

Producers ordered Scott Weintraub, 33, out of the reality TV series when other housemates said they feared for their safety following his outburst.

The Chicago waiter, who described himself on the programme’s website as “high energy, crazy,” hurled chairs across the kitchen and then refused to go to the diary room.

He later apologised to his housemates, claiming his anger was in part sparked by an outbreak of genital warts.

The incident was shown live on the internet. Producers have not yet decided whether to air it on TV.

Weintraub’s exit, in only the second week of the CBS show, leaves 12 contestants battling for the £300,000 prize (€432,000).

Two years ago US Big Brother contestant Justin Sebik was thrown out for holding a knife to the throat of a female housemate.
