Davis set for Reagan role

Actress Judy Davis is in final talks to star as former first lady Nancy Reagan in what is sure to be a controversial four hour mini-series about Ronald and Nancy Reagan.

The Reagans will feature the entire Reagan clan, including children Patty, Maureen, Michael and Ron Jr., and will span Reagan’s days as a young actor in the 1940s, through his run for California governor to his presidency, reports the New York Post.

The heart of the story will be the Reagans’ romance.

“It’s a rich story that works on so many levels,” Bela Bajaria, an executive of the CBS network, which will televise the mini-series in America, told the newspaper.

“It’s a love story, a story about family, a story about the country and politics during a certain time. And it’s about these two icons.”

Hollywood analysts believe that the mini-series will almost certainly arouse controversy because of the strong partisan feelings Reagan still evokes.
