Kidman and Carrey are 'betwitched'

A dinner date that sparked rumours of a romance between Nicole Kidman and Jim Carrey was simply a business meeting according to their representatives.

Gossips speculated about the two single stars having found happiness together after they were spotted dining together at the trendy Nobu restaurant in Manhattan, laughing and joking.

But they were simply talking about plans to star together in the film version of the 1960s television comedy series Betwitched, says writer-director Nora Ephron, who is to direct the film.

Kidman plans to take on Elizabeth Montgomery's role as the nose-twitching witch Samantha while Carrey is reportedly hoping to play the part of her mortal husband Darrin, played originally by Dick York.
