Bruce backs out of British project
Just two months before Bruce Willis was to begin filming the British-backed amnesia thriller Me Again with Oscar nominee Diane Lane, he has backed out of the project.
A statement from Intermedia, which is co-producing the film with BBC Films, described the “mutually amicable” parting as stemming from “creative differences” – but one newspaper reported that the biggest difference was over the actor’s salary.
Because of the global economic climate Willis was asked to take a cut in his payment.
But reports say he did not want to change the deal he originally made a year ago, which called for nearly £20m (€28m) for his acting services and £3m (€4.3m) pounds more for his production company.
The script for Me Again has now been sent out to a short list of big-name actors and production is still set to begin in mid-June.
Me Again is the story of a man who wakes up in a hotel room with no memory and a dead body.
The man and an FBI agent, played by Lane, must figure out if he’s a hit man or the undercover cop assigned to take down the assassin.
