Gay wedding for rocker Etheridge

Rocker Melissa Etheridge plans to tie the knot at the end of this year with her girlfriend, actress Tammy Lynn Michaels.

“This is the first wedding for both of them,” said Etheridge’s publicist, Marcel Pariseau. He declined to reveal plans for the ceremony except to say it would take place in Los Angeles.

Etheridge, 41, has been dating Michaels, 28, for about two years, Pariseau said.

The musician shares custody of a daughter and a son with former partner Julie Cypher. The two revealed in 2000 that musician David Crosby was the sperm donor for their children, who were delivered by Cypher.

No US state, nor the federal government, legally recognises same-sex marriage. However, California, Hawaii and Vermont have extended those couples economic benefits granted to married couples.
