King turns his talents to the stage

Horror writer Stephen King, who last year said he was retiring from writing, has turned his talents to the stage.

He is working with singer John Mellencamp on writing a Broadway musical based on a true story.

ā€œI’ve already done a treatment,ā€ he tells the Los Angeles Times. ā€œIt’s about a 1940s case of two brothers in love with the same girl and one brother kills the other. I loved the idea.ā€

Although he has no more books in the offing at present, King is working on the last of 13 episodes he wrote for an upcoming television series, Kingdom Hospital, which he will also produce.

ā€œI love to write and if I really like something and think it’s really good, I’ll publish it,ā€ he said. ā€œBut I think I’ve said everything I have to say in terms of stories.ā€
