Caine: McCartney was a prude

Michael Caine recalls that even during the Swinging 60s in London, Paul McCartney was a bit of a prude.

Jane Asher, then Paul’s girlfriend, played Caine’s girlfriend in the 1966 film Alfie.

“We did a scene where we’d been to bed together and she was wearing my shirt in the morning like a night shirt,” Caine told Red Carpet magazine.

“They came in and got one of my other shirts and cut the tail off and put an extra length on. I asked, ‘What for?’ They said that Paul didn’t want her showing so much leg. He was very prim and proper, Paul.”
