De Niro to play himself in television series

Robert De Niro is to play himself in a television series that takes a satirical and sometimes scathing look at the film industry.

The actor and his business partner Jane Rosenthal will also produce the series, which will be based on the Hollywood tell-all book What Just Happened? Bitter Hollywood Tales From The Front Line by veteran producer Art Linson.

Linson has been writing the script and De Niro will make cameo appearances.
