A gem of a documentary, based on the outlandish career of famed director Robert Evans - of such great films as The Godfather, Rosemary's Baby and Love Story - who began life as a l950's actor and who is still making movies (his How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days has just opened Stateside, to much acclaim).

This account of his many rises and falls and rises; and falls is told with a wonderfully rich seam of humour and makes Evans a man we should all welcome as a friend. OK, an off-the-wall friend, a friend who will let us down (unintentionally) as much as support us. But a friend who will never give us a second of boredom.

This is a brilliantly-constructed glimpse behind the Hollywood scenes; and what a mad world it is.
