Depp to star in Stephen King adaptation
Spider-Man writer David Koepp is to direct Johnny Depp in his own adaptation of Stephen King's novella Two Past Midnight: Secret Window, Secret Garden for Columbia Pictures.
US entertainment trade newspaper Variety reports that the story follows what happens when a recently divorced writer, who is moping alone at a lake house, is interrupted by a psychotic who accuses him of having stolen his best idea for a story.
The project will mark Koepp’s third time in the director’s chair.
He wrote and directed the 1999 thriller Stir of Echoes starring Kevin Bacon and the 1996 Elizabeth Shue film The Trigger Effect.
Depp, who recently starred in Blow and From Hell, will next be seen in Disney’s Pirates of The Caribbean.
The movie is based on a Disney theme park ride and stars Depp as Jack Sparrow, a gentleman pirate, who teams up with the daughter of a governor to frustrate the evil schemes of a crew of pirates.
