Movie interest in Bush documentary

A documentary featuring US president George Bush could be made into a movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a company called Out of the Blue Entertainment has bought film rights to Journeys With George – Alexandra Pelosi’s documentary that traces his presidential campaign.

The documentary premieres on US television this week. Pelosi, a TV producer, followed Bush on his 2000 campaign from the first day through the election, the subsequent controversy surrounding the Florida ballots and the recount and finishing with Bush’s inauguration.

The company will develop a fictional feature centring on a female journalist inspired by Pelosi.

The film will be developed as a drama with a fictional presidential candidate in a similar environment and characters based on real-life campaigners in the documentary.

It will also explore the relationship between the candidate and his press corps and the competitive relationships of political journalists.
