Harrison honoured for film work
Late Beatle George Harrison is to be honoured for his movie work at a major film ceremony next week , it was announced today.
The guitarist, who died last year, was one of the saviours of British film as he financed a string of low budget hits.
His contribution will be remembered with a posthumour lifetimes achievement award at the British Independent Film Awards in London on October 30.
Movies financed by his company Handmade Films include The Long Good Friday, Time Bandits and Withnail And I.
He is being recognised for his contribution to independent film.
The event is being hosted by TV presenter Johnny Vaughan.
