McCartney to end tour with Australia show
Paul McCartney is to perform in the southern Australian city of Melbourne next month, officials said today.
It will be the only concert in the Australia-Southeast Asia region during his current tour.
Victoria state political leader Steve Bracks said the November 23 gig would attract 10,000 visitors and generate about £7m (€11m) in tourism revenue.
Bracks’ government-funded Major Events Company is bringing in Sir Paul.
“This is an extremely rare and exciting opportunity for Melbourne,” Bracks said.
“I am delighted the city will represent Australia – and in fact the entire southeast Asian region – for the final leg of this amazing tour.”
McCartney has said the concert will include songs from his time in the Beatles and his own band, Wings, as well as current material.
