Victoria Beckham leaves hospital

Proud mother Victoria Beckham today took her new baby Romeo home from hospital, said a spokesman.

Mrs Beckham, 28, left the Portland Hospital in central London via a back entrance.

A hospital spokesman emerged just after midday and told waiting crowds they had already left.

It was not known whether her England star husband, David, was with them.

Romeo, the couple's second child, was born by Caesarean section on Sunday, weighing 7lbs 4oz.

The Beckhams left in a black people carrier, with blacked-out windows, and swept past waiting photographers.

Last night, David Beckham showed his delight at the latest addition to the family when he donned boots bearing the names of both his sons.

The Manchester United star stepped out in style at Old Trafford when he wore bright red Adidas boots with "Romeo" and "Brooklyn" stitched on to the tongues.

The multi-millionaire sportsman has often worn boots bearing three-year-old Brooklyn’s tag and last night Romeo followed in his father’s footsteps - in name at least.

And the question whether Beckham would be able to see his wife and new child again before England’s friendly with Portugal on Saturday looked to have been answered last night as the star was withdrawn from the squad.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that his midfielder had suffered a calf injury and would not be able to join the national team.

A spokeswoman for Victoria was quoted earlier yesterday saying it was not known if Beckham would be able to get away from the squad.

Asked about the former Spice Girl, a spokeswoman added: "She is just resting after a major operation. She is having a bit of time to recuperate. Romeo is doing well."

Yesterday, Sir Elton John’s partner David Furnish visited his friend Victoria and described baby Romeo as "beautiful" after spending 45 minutes with them.

He said of Victoria: "She looks really well. She looks really great and beautiful and happy. She looks really radiant."

Brooklyn also popped in yesterday to see his little brother, arriving at the hospital hand-in-hand with his grandmother Sandra Beckham.

The pair were followed by Victoria’s mother, Jackie, her son Christian, daughter Louise, and Louise’s daughters Liberty and Tallulah.
