Preston gets Dr Seuss' Cat role

Actress Kelly Preston has joined the cast of new movie Dr Seuss’ The Cat In The Hat starring Austin Powers actor Mike Myers.

Shooting begins in the autumn at Universal Studios in Hollywood with Bo Welch directing the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Cat In The Hat will see Myers star as the mischievous feline in a striped stovepipe hat who enters the lives of a boy named Conrad and his younger sister, Sally.

The cat becomes a catalyst in getting them to understand the beauty of the simplicity of life.

Preston, 39, – the wife of actor John Travolta – will play the children’s mother. Mother-of-two Preston is currently in production on the film An American Girl.

She will next be seen in A View From The Top which also stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Christina Applegate.
