Jordan diagnosed with rare cancer

Jordan says she's been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that started with a lump on her finger.

The cancer is called leiomyosarcoma or LMS. It attacks the smooth muscle cells which make up the involuntary muscles and are found in most parts of the body.

It affects one in four million people and in its advanced stages there is only a 50-50 chance of survival.

Jordan, whose real name is Katie Price, told the News of The World: "When the consultant told me I was absolutely numb. I couldn't even cry.

"The word 'cancer' strikes terror into the heart of everybody . I'm absolutely reeling from the news. But Harvey is my inspiration, my reason for living and beating this thing."

The lump on the inside of her index finger on her left hand was spotted by her manicurist when she was four months into her pregnancy.

She says her doctor referred her to a specialist in Hove, who arranged for the bump to be removed at Nuffield hospital in Brighton two weeks after Harvey was born in June.

She was told the lump was malignant and she's due to have further investigative surgery to see if the cancer has spread.

Her manager Dave Read said: "It may well be that she will have to undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy - but if anyone can beat this cancer, she can."
