Blanchett thinks her new film will draw 9/11 parallel

Cate Blanchett says she expects people to draw parallels between her new film and September 11.

She co-stars with Giovanni Ribisi in Heaven.

In the film she plays Philippa, who tries to blow up a man she believes killed her husband.

"The fact that a woman sets a bomb off in a building that kills four people, the connections are going to be made," she says.

"I do think in the desperate desire to understand what happened to the world and where we are, we look for those resonances in every single book we read and every single advert we see.

"It's to be expected that an audience draws comparisons and perhaps has even less sympathy with Philippa then they might have had."

The role required Blanchett to radically change her look by shaving her head. She says it turned her head into Velcro.

"I sort of stuck to my husband!" said Blanchett.

"I found it incredibly liberating and it was really important for the script. I think it's interesting that people say 'Wow! You shaved you head!'

"It was more difficult a couple of months afterwards when you become like a tennis ball, it all grows at the same length and then it becomes a bit of a fashion nightmare."
