Malcolm in the Middle to get new addition

Malcolm in the Middle is to get a new cast member.

Jane Kaczmarek, who plays Malcolm's mum Lois, says her real-life pregnancy is to be written into the show.

Kaczmarek, who is married to The West Wing's Bradley Whitford, is due to give birth in November.

She told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: "I've been told they're going to work the pregnancy into the show.

"The plan is to do some episodes with Lois not pregnant, and then some pregnant."

While filming the first series in 1999, Kaczmarek was pregnant with her second child and was forced to hide behind chairs, frying pans and refrigerator doors, she tells the paper.
