Baz Luhrmann turns attention to historical epics

Baz Luhrmann is to direct a new film about Alexander The Great.

The Moulin Rouge director is to due to begin making the film in Morocco early next year.

Luhrmann says he hopes to launch a trilogy of historical films.

"The Western culture that we know and respect today would not have existed without Alexander," Luhrmann told www.hollywoodreporter.com.

He says the film will tell Alexander's epic journey in much the same style as Lawrence Of Arabia.
