Rob Lowe quits The West Wing

Rob Lowe is to leave The West Wing.

His character, Sam Seaborn, will be written out towards the end of the fourth series, which begins in America in the next few weeks.

It's believed he decided to leave the show after failing to secure an increase in his salary.

According to www.variety.com, the show's producers are not willing to increase Lowe's deal.

It is thought he will now concentrate on films and possibly another television series.
