Plant fled from Led Zep tribute gig

Rock veteran Robert Plant confessed today to sneaking in to see a Led Zeppelin tribute act - but fled in embarrassment after he was recognised.

The former Led Zep star went along to the gig at a London pub to give him some idea of how the audience would see him

But the long-haired singer was rumbled as he wandered into the Dublin Castle venue in Camden as he went to see cover band Letz Zep, he revealed to the August edition of Q magazine.

Plant, 53, admitted: “Somebody told me about this band and I knew how ridiculous I looked then - I mean I look ridiculous now - but I wanted to see how other people saw me.

He had hoped to get in without being noticed but the doorway had been moved since his last visit to the venue and he found that everyone saw him come in.

“They were playing The Ocean (album track from Houses Of The Holy) and they all looked up from the stage and I was like God, I’ve been sussed.

“I thought what do I do now? Do I have to get up and do The Battle Of Evermore with this guy? So I turned and fled.”
