Scooby Doo cast agree to sequel

Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini have already agreed to star in Scooby Doo 2.

They will reprise their roles as Fred, Daphne, Shaggy and Velma in a sequel to the movie, which opened in the US last week.

Production on Scooby Doo 2 is expected to begin early next year in Los Angeles, with release scheduled for 2004.

Raja Gosnell, who directed the first movie, will also return, along with screenwriter James Gunn.

A spokesman for makers Warner Bros said: "Our cast and filmmakers really brought this animated series to life on the big screen, and we feel certain that we've got another great Scooby Doo story to tell in movie theaters two years from now."
