Disney say Aloha to Hawaii with film premiere

Disney's new animated film has been given its premiere in Hawaii.

Lilo And Stitch is about a lonely young Hawaiian girl who adopts an alien as a pet after he crash lands.

Fans, hula dancers and a ukulele band were at the premiere.

Jason Scott Lee, who voices the part of Hawaiian surfer David Kawena, said: "It's all very exciting. It brings it home, it makes it tangible."

Tia Carrere, who lends her voice to Lilo's older sister Nani, says she hopes Hawaiians will be pleased with the way the state is portrayed on the big screen.

"I think they will be," she said.

"As someone who was born and raised here, I'm very proud of the good, positive values that this film illustrates about the people of Hawaii."
