London police arrest Hollywood star, say reports
Film star Woody Harrelson has been chased by police and arrested after he allegedly damaged a London taxi, according to the Sun.
The 40-year-old star of Natural Born Killers is said to have smashed a door lock and an ashtray in the back of the cab before jumping out.
He then hailed another taxi and fled on foot when the vehicle was stopped by police, paper has reported.
A Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed a man allegedly damaged a taxi cab in the Waterloo Place area and fled the vehicle, who was later arrested for criminal damage.
"He was taken to a central London police station and later bailed to return on July 1 pending a report to the Crown Prosecution Service," said a spokesman.
Police have not named the man.
Cabbie Les Dartnell told the Sun he was hailed by Mr Harrelson outside China White nightclub in Piccadilly and asked to be taken to his hotel.
He claimed he gave chase and called the police on his radio as Harrelson, who shot to fame in the TV comedy Cheers, ran off into another taxi, which was stopped some two miles away by police.
It is claimed Harrelson was then restrained and taken to a police station.
