Big Brother nearly ruined my life, says contestant
Big Brother veteran, Narinder Kaur, has warned that appearing on the reality television show nearly ruined her life.
Unable to resist the promise of fame and the hope of a permanent job in television, the married 28-year-old said the resulting fame hit her like ‘‘a slap in the face.’’
Writing in the Sunday Express magazine, S:2 she said: ‘‘Appearing on television might sound like a dream come true, but for me it was a nightmare
‘‘When I went into the Big Brother house 12 months ago it was like being put on trial, and now I feel like I’m doing time.’’
Narinder says her family have also ‘‘been through hell’’, and she has been seeing a psychotherapist to help her deal with her depression and insomnia.
And since leaving the BB2 house as the third evictee last year, Narinder lost her job as a medical rep and has struggled to keep her marriage together.
She said: ‘‘The rest of the time has been a whirl of the three Ps - parties, premieres and posh frocks. But nobody warned me that the three Ps go in hand with the three Ws - w***ers, wishful thinking and worst-dressed lists.’’
But at last, the glare of publicity is paying dividends, and she will be back on our screens in the autumn presenting a new series called Undercover Lovers.
