World Cup songs reach Madness level

Former Madness star Chas Smash swapped the nutty walk for a victory march today in anticipation of glory in Japan for England.

The singer is bidding for a chart hit by throwing his weight behind We’re Coming Over, which he has recorded with the England Supporters’ Band.

They released the track today and stomped around central London to drum up interest in the tune, which is based on the Great Escape theme.

He and the rest of the band are hoping it will become the unofficial anthem, beating Ant And Dec’s effort We’re On The Ball, which is out next week.

On their travels Chas and the band visited the Japanese Embassy where they enjoyed sushi and handed fish and chips to staff.

The World Cup kicks off in Japan and South Korea next week.
