Lydon says Jubilee will be dismal

John Lydon says the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations will be "dismal."

He says the Sex Pistols reunion gig has been timed to avoid the jubilee weekend to avoid spoiling the royals' fun.

The former Johnny Rotten jokes he's "always wanted to get into" the Queen's knickers.

The Pistols have arranged a reunion gig at Crystal Palace on July 27, to mark the Silver Jubilee of their single God Save The Queen being denied the number one slot.

Lydon said: "I've always wanted to get into her knickers. Let's be honest, we are the Sex Pistols."

Lydon, 46, who is now based in Los Angeles, said he had opted against holding the Pistols' show to coincide with the Queen's Jubilee concert over the June bank holiday weekend.

"That's her fun and, quite frankly, even beforehand it's absolutely guaranteed that her lot will be f****** dismal.

"Let me remind you what being British is all about. This is our country, this is our flag, they're our monarchy, they don't work too well at the moment but let's make the f****** do a good job. Let's get rid of the useless ones and keep a few of the goodies."

Asked who he thought useless, the punk icon said: "Prince Charles - as long as Elizabeth keeps him off the throne she's doing a good job."

Lydon said Britain had got "much worse" in the years since he quit living here.

"You know damn well that Mr Blair has f***** it up. Socialism is a joke, and you voted that in. Could you explain that to me? Were the Tories looking that bad?"
