Madonna is reported to be competing with Paul McCartney, Sting and Mohammed Al Fayed to buy a €7m Scottish castle.

The singer and husband Guy Ritchie are said to be planning a special viewing of Amhuinnsuidhe Castle, on the Isle of Harris.

They have wanted to buy a home in the Highlands since their wedding at Skibo Castle, Dornoch, in December 2000.

McCartney, Sting and Al Fayed have also reportedly expressed an interest in Amhuinnsuidhe. The residents of Harris also hope to take over the estate in a community buy-out.

The castle and 50,000 acres, famous for deer stalking and fishing, are being sold by cider millionaire Jonathan Bulmer, who once described it as "the loveliest place on Earth".

Selling agents Knight Frank confirmed that a brochure on the estate was being sent to Madonna and Guy,
