Boyzone boy Duffy hits the Street
Keith Duffy has been cast to play a womaniser in Coronation Street.
The ex-Boyzone singer will be seen trying to chat up Peter Barlow's girlfriend Shelley.
He originally auditioned to be Mike Baldwin's new assistant Joe Carter.
That part went instead to Jonathan Wrather, reports The Sun.
Corrie's bosses liked Keith enough to write a part especially for him. Producer Kieran Roberts said: "Keith is a genuine talent. We are very excited."
The star, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother last year, is scheduled to feature in six episodes but he could become a regular if he is popular with viewers.
"I'm delighted - looking forward to it," said Keith.
