Coronation Street stars heading for ‘Blackpool high jinks’
Coronation Street bosses today promised ‘‘high jinks, comedy, drama and romance’’ during six special episodes set in the seaside resort of Blackpool.
Filming was taking place today at the town’s North Pier involving six of the soap’s regulars.
Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and Maria (Samia Ghadie) were planning a quiet holiday in Maria’s uncle’s caravan.
When Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Kirk (Andy Whyment), Jason (Ryan Thomas) and Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) arrive, claiming they had booked the caravan, the holiday turns out to be anything but quiet.
There’s love in the air for Toyah when she meets and falls for a mysterious, good-looking stranger.
And Tyrone and Maria rekindle their relationship as they take a trip down memory lane.
A spokeswoman for the Street said: ‘‘Soap fans will be treated to a week of high jinks, comedy, drama and even a holiday romance or two as Coronation Street goes on location in the seaside capital of the world.’’
Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk, said: ‘‘It’s the first time I’ve been away with Corrie so it should be great fun.
‘‘The storylines are brilliant and they have written me some really good comedy stuff.’’
The Blackpool episodes will be screened on May 17, 19, 20, 22, 24 and 26.
