Posh 'lucky to end up a pop star'
One of Victoria Beckham's former teachers says she has only become a star through luck.
She told a TV documentary that Posh Spice has managed to succeed with far less talent than other pupils.
In the show, Victoria criticises Kylie's single Can't Get You Out Of My Head in the show Being Victoria Beckham, to be broadcast on ITV1 on Monday.
Teacher Joy Spriggs says: "If Victoria hadn't had the lucky breaks that she had and the people having faith in her to make her what she is, she probably would have been singing and dancing on a cruise liner. There are lots of girls with more talent, I'm being quite honest here, that are doing less than Victoria's doing."
She said: "When I first heard that record, if I'm being totally honest, I didn't like it. I like a song that has lyrics, a good melody. I can't dispute that it has a catchy feel but I like a song that has a bit of emotion."
The warts-and-all documentary also portrays the singer's complexion in a less than flattering light. Her mum Jackie says: "Spots were always the plague of her life - we tried everything known to man."
Victoria admits: "I have got facial hair as well - oh, I shouldn't have said that. When I was at school I was a complete minger. I had permed hair, the lot. Not the best looking."
She also reveals her earliest inspiration was Barry Manilow but wishes it was someone "cooler." She says: "Barry Manilow is definitely my inspiration - I wish it had been someone a bit cooler. But it wasn't until I saw Fame that I thought 'That is it, that is what I want to do."
She also talks about the real reason why she has nothing more to do with former bandmate Geri Halliwell. She said the lack of communication followed an untrue story about her husband David Beckham having an affair.
Victoria said: "All the other girls phoned me and were really, really supportive. Geri knew me very well as well and she knew how that would have made me feel.
"We had had dinner in St Tropez so it wasn't as if I hadn't spoken to her for a long time and I was very, very surprised that she didn't call. When she didn't call, in my mind, that's when I said 'that's that' because I would have called her."
