Vote Darius urges GMTV host

TV presenter Lorraine Kelly wore her heart on her chest today as she urged Pop Idol viewers: ‘‘Vote Darius’’.

The GMTV host wore a t-shirt with the slogan written on it to show her support for fellow Glaswegian Darius Danesh, one of three wannabes left in the ITV1 TV talent hunt.

She flashed the shirt to viewers after unzipping her top to the strains of The Stripper and telling them: ‘‘I’ve got a message for the nation.’’

Kelly added: ‘‘Make sure your vote counts. I shall be wearing this all weekend round the shops.’’

Danesh and the other competitors, Will Young and favourite Gareth Gates, will be reduced to just two after Saturday’s edition of Pop Idol.

At stake is a potentially lucrative recording deal.

After today’s GMTV Kelly said: ‘‘I’m backing the Scot, of course. I’ve voted for him all along, every week. He’s absolutely fab and I really admire the way he keeps coming back. He’ll go far whatever happens this weekend.’’

Danesh had previously been dumped from the competition but was brought back after one of the finalists became ill.
