Rab C Nesbitt creator writes Geordie sitcom

The creator of Rab C Nesbitt has written a new sitcom about a Geordie.

Breeze Block will star Tim Healy as Ralph Breeze and will be shown on BBC Choice from March.

Ian Pattison has created the character who can barely make it out of the house, never mind find a job.

According to reports, Ralph has not worked since losing his job at the tank factory.

His wife Iris, played by Su Elliot, would like a job at the supermarket, but cannot understand how the till works.

Among the guests expected to appear in the show are real-life Geordies Donna Air and Healy's wife, former Coronation Street actress Denise Welch.

"The series is not intended to parody Geordies. It is a gritty examination of the effect being unemployed and broke has on people," a BBC spokesman said.
