Biggie and Tupac film wins praise
The maker of an acclaimed new film about two murdered rappers says he didn't think it would work at first.
Nick Broomfield's Biggie And Tupac, has won plaudits at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
The film is an investigation into the murders of rappers Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.
But Broomfield tells the Los Angeles Times he was not convinced to start with that the subject would make a film.
He says: "Then came various suspicions that Tupac's murder might have involved the Los Angeles Police Department.
"Then it became much more of a political story and I felt I had a right to do it. If you're going to do something dangerous, know why you're doing it."
Shakur was gunned down in Las Vegas in September 1996.
Smalls, also known as The Notorious BIG, was killed the following year.
